Uniting Artists and Educators
Maria Nek is building the European Culture Academy - an innovative platform uniting artists, architects, educators, and art enthusiasts from around the world.
Her story takes us on a global adventure through Russia, France, Italy, Spain, and the Netherlands, highlighting the contrasting educational systems and cultural traditions she encountered along the way.
In this conversation we discuss the significance of understanding different educational systems, traditions, and artistic perspectives across continents. We also gain a fresh perspective on the intersection of art, education, and entrepreneurship.

The Origin of Good Ideas
Number 2 is something that really hit home here. For example, I hear a lot of richy tech people are doing psychedelics. So that’s something that I think will be more mainstream in the years to come. Can probably ask my kids about them in a few years 😅
How to throw a Cocktail Party
Until a year ago I had never thrown a cocktail (networking) party.
Now, I’ve thrown six and plan on hosting another one on Sep. 4th here in Bucharest.
Over the next few weeks, I’ll share my blueprint on how to host an amazing cocktail party that all your guests will be talking about. Here are the first steps to cover:
1/ Pick the date & time
Host your party on a Mon, Tue, or Wed. so you are not competing with other popular social nights. Ideally plan the party 4 weeks in advance which will give you time to promote it and get the desired number of guests.
Limit the party duration to two hours. This is the perfect amount of time for everyone to connect with others and have two icebreakers.
People will appreciate knowing that there is an end time so they won’t feel awkward when trying to leave.
2/ Establish the venue. The best place to host a party is your home and the optimal number of guests you want to have is 14-20 people. You can also host your party in a large conference room at an office or co-working space which I usually do since I have young kids.
3/ Create the event page. This will allow guests to RSVP. It will also include basic information about the event, the location, a description of what to expect, and a fun image. There are different event platforms available. I use Mixily as it has a free version.
A short description of the event should include information like:
- A fun event name (I call mine ‘Innovators in [name of city]’
- Get to meet new friends, build connections with interesting people in the [name of industry]
- Will have name tags, wine, and good conversation
- There will be icebreakers which will allow you to meet even more new, fun and interesting people
We’ll pick up next week as I share my approach to deciding which potential guests to invite (many of whom I’ve never spoken with or met)
*If interested in coming to one of my cocktail parties, send me a note. Would love to have you!
The End
I’ve been working on something exciting….
The Innovators Can Laugh Media Network!
I’m putting together a select group of 7-10 podcasts that have a target audience similar to mine (Tech geeks, startups, B2B marketers, entrepreneurs). Combined, we’ll have a reach of thousands of loyal listeners.
And why does this matter?
Because now SaaS companies who are looking to raise awareness and want to generate new leads, they can now have their ad spots featured in multiple top rated podcasts reaching a targeted audience primarily based in Europe and the States.
More to come on this : )
Have a great weekend!
